Now we have had time to celebrate the purchase of the Exelby Green Dragon we need to start the hard work of getting the pub ready for business!
We will have clean-up and gardening sessions on Saturday 20 October (10.00am to 4.00pm) and Sunday 21 October morning (9.30am to 12.00 noon).
If you can make it, it would be good if you could let us know your availability just so we know numbers for the following;
Cleaning - this will involve moving stuff out of the pub that is to be disposed of (bits of old furniture and possibly carpets etc) and a good spring clean throughout (excluding the kitchen which is to be professionally deep cleaned).
Gardening - this will mainly be to the front, the beer garden area and the back of the cottage
At a later date we hope to be painting the two bar areas and the (white area) front wall of the pub. It won't be that big a job with emulsion for the walls and tidying up the paintwork. So again, if you could let us know if you are able to help with this aspect also that would be appreciated so we can let you know the arrangements for this in due course
For those who can help with
cleaning we don't have much equipment, so please come prepared! We will have sweeping brushes, buckets, cleaning cloths and cleaning materials but if there is anything else you think you will need please bring it along.
For the gardeners it will be mainly cutting stuff back and weeding but if anyone has a big mower and wants to tidy up the grass area (weather permitting) that would be fantastic.
There will be tea and coffee facilities but please bring your own mug and anything else you might want for refreshments.

As soon as we get our bearings, we will be having an open house so that we can all meet at the pub and celebrate the purchase and outline initial plans to get the pub up and running again.
