Gardening Day Saturday 9th March from 10.00 am

Now that spring is here (sort of!) we’re looking for volunteers to help with work on the banks of the beer garden.  There’s more grunt work to be done – fence panels to remove, rubble to shift, weeding - and then we plan to improve the look of the area with some fresh planting, including a herb garden for the kitchen!

If you can spare a few hours on Saturday 9 March from 10.00 onwards that would be great.  Please bring your own gardening tools.  If you have spring bulbs growing in pots that you don’t want then that would be great but the focus this time is on completing the tidying up and agreeing a planting plan for later in the month.

Money is limited so we also need help with plants!  If you have unwanted shrubs we can probably find a new hold for them. We also want common perennials, so please split your plants and pot up with labels.  We particularly want plants such as Hostas, perennial geraniums, Lupins, Foxgloves, Alchemilla Mollis, Penstemon, and ground cover plants such as Vinca and Ajuga.

We won’t be able to plant these until after the 9 March event so please pot up, label and keep at home for a grand planting event to be arranged for later in the month.

We are also planning to have a herb garden so spare plants such as Mint, Rosemary, Oregano, Chives, Sage, etc would be welcome.

Plant donations can also be delivered to Kirsty at Forge Cottage or Gerry Price at The Old Forge! Thank you!
