Some reflections…

It has been two months since we purchased the Exelby Green Dragon, just two months. In that time, we have made excellent inroads into the renovations of both the pub itself and the cottage, we have appointed fantastic tenants in Tom and Becci Baker and pulling out all the stops we were able to reopen the pub on Saturday 1st December 2018! It is planned to open the restaurant ion the New Year once the full refurbishment of the kitchen and dining areas is complete.

All this has happened through the hard work, commitment and dedication of all our shareholders and a small army of fantastic volunteers – thank you all!

We were able to give a presentation about all this at the Inspiring Rural Communities conference and awards ceremony in London last week, showcasing these fantastic efforts and showing how communities can make a real and meaningful difference. There is still much to do but we have an upward trajectory and the will to succeed. Work continues developing the pub and its facilities together with renovations to the cottage. In the New Year we look forward to all our plans coming together with the opening of our very own shop and café right at the heart of the community.

Next year on Friday 3rd May 2019, the Tour de Yorkshire will be going through Exelby with the Exelby Green Dragon right there in the front row. This fly past will be a superb tribute to the pub and all that hard work and dedication that is going into making the Exelby Green dragon great once more!
